Refinery sealing
Refining Seals, Gaskets and Spares
Refineries operate thousands of flanged joints, pumps and valves across hot, flammable and corrosive services. Globseals helps maintenance, shutdown and procurement teams source seals, gaskets, packing and spares, and identify parts from numbers, samples or drawings. Because refinery duty is demanding, selections are always confirmed against your datasheets and plant standards.

Sealing challenges
Refinery sealing is about managing a very large number of leak paths across wide temperature and pressure ranges. Common focus areas include:
- Process pumps with mechanical seals, flush plans and quench arrangements
- Heat exchanger and vessel flanges where gasket compression and surface finish both matter
- Control and isolation valves needing correct packing and bonnet gaskets
- Steam, cooling water and utility systems that share the same site
- Planned shutdowns, when hundreds of gaskets and packing sets are required in a short window
Relevant product families

- Spiral wound gaskets: Spiral wound gaskets for general and higher-temperature flange joints.
- Graphite gaskets and packing: Graphite gaskets and packing for heat and chemical resistance.
- Mechanical seals: Mechanical seals for refinery pump duties.
- Cartridge seals: Cartridge seals for simpler installation and setting.
- Valves and valve spares: Valve spares and packing sets.

How to select the right part
Gasket and seal selection follows the process fluid, operating temperature and the flange or pump design. Typically, flexible graphite and spiral wound constructions are considered for hot services, and PTFE types for aggressive chemicals, but suitability is application specific. Treat this as general guidance and confirm every choice against the manufacturer's data and your own site specification.
Information that speeds up a correct recommendation:
- Service fluid and its hazard classification
- Design and operating temperature and pressure
- Flange rating, facing, bolt count and gasket dimensions
- Pump make, model, shaft size and existing seal code
Technical and identification support
Turnaround planners can send a full bill of materials as a spreadsheet. We review it line by line, flag items that need clarification and quote what can be identified. Items with unresolved identification go to technical review.
If you are unsure what you have, start with find my seal, upload a drawing, or read about our technical support.
Procurement and ordering
We suggest raising turnaround requirements early so quotes, documentation requirements and supply arrangements can be settled before the shutdown. Contact the head office on 011 079 6033 or use the quote form. Availability and lead times are confirmed per enquiry.
Globseals offers three ways to buy: buy online where a confirmed price is shown, request a quote for custom, bulk or unpriced items, or ask for technical review when identification is unresolved. Call 011 079 6033, WhatsApp 079 508 0989 or email info@globseals.com.

We reply with a quote, a buy-online link or a technical review.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send a turnaround gasket list?
Yes. Send the list as a spreadsheet with sizes, ratings, facings and materials, and we will quote the identifiable lines and flag anything unclear.
Do you supply graphite packing for valves?
Yes, graphite and other packing types can be quoted. Provide the valve make, stem size and service details.
Are replacement seals compatible with my pump?
We can quote genuine or compatible options for pumps from manufacturers such as Flowserve, KSB, Sulzer and Goulds, and explain the difference.
What if my part cannot be identified?
Send photos, dimensions or the old part. Unresolved items go to technical review before any order is placed.
