Chemical plant sealing
Chemical Processing Seals, Gaskets and Spares
Chemical processing places seals, gaskets and O-rings in contact with acids, alkalis, oxidisers and solvents, often at elevated temperature. Globseals supplies sealing products and pump spares for chemical plants and helps you find the right material route. Because one wrong compound can fail quickly, we always ask for the chemical details before suggesting a part.
- Chemical-resistant materials
- Dosing pump spares
- PTFE gaskets
- O-ring compounds

Sealing challenges
Plants that blend, react or transfer chemicals face a mix of corrosion, permeation and swelling risks. Typical problem areas include:
- Dosing and transfer pumps handling acids, caustic soda or hypochlorite
- Rubber-lined and plastic pipework where flange gaskets must not damage soft faces
- Agitators and reactors where shaft seals meet vapours and crystallising product
- Valves in corrosive service where stem packing and seats wear quickly
- Storage and loading areas where hoses and fittings must resist the product

- PTFE gaskets and seals: PTFE gaskets and seals suited to many corrosive media.
- Rubber gaskets and elastomer products: Rubber gaskets and elastomer products in several compounds.
- Metric O-rings: Metric O-rings for fittings, pumps and valves.
- Mechanical seals: Mechanical seals for chemical transfer pumps.
- Hoses and fittings: Hoses and fittings for fluid handling.

How to select the right part
There is no single chemical-proof seal material. PTFE is typically broad in chemical resistance, EPDM tends to suit many alkalis and some acids, and FKM is often used with oils and many acids, but each has exceptions. Treat this as general orientation and confirm against the manufacturer's chemical resistance charts. For mixed, strong oxidising or unusual media, request technical review.
Information that speeds up a correct recommendation:
- Chemical name, strength and temperature
- Whether exposure is continuous, splash or cleaning only
- Pump, valve or flange details and dimensions
- Quantity required and whether this is a one-off or repeat item
Technical and identification support
Photos of the failed part help us see how it degraded, which often points to the real cause. Add the chemical details and the equipment data, and we can discuss options. Our guide to common causes of seal failure may also help your team.
If you are unsure what you have, start with find my seal, upload a drawing, or read about our technical support.
Procurement and ordering
Chemical plants often hold many small, varied seal sizes. We can quote kits and lists in one request, and you can ask about supply agreements for repeat lines. Documentation needs and lead times are confirmed per enquiry.
Globseals offers three ways to buy: buy online where a confirmed price is shown, request a quote for custom, bulk or unpriced items, or ask for technical review when identification is unresolved. Call 011 079 6033, WhatsApp 079 508 0989 or email info@globseals.com.

How ordering works
- 1
Describe the equipment
Send the make, model and where the part is fitted.
- 2
Share part details
Include a part number, measurements, photos or a drawing.
- 3
Give the duty
State the medium, temperature, pressure and speed.
- 4
Receive options
We reply with a quote, a buy-online link or a technical review.
Frequently asked questions
Which O-ring material resists acids?
It depends on the acid, its strength and the temperature. Send the details and we will suggest options for you to verify against the manufacturer's data.
Can you supply spares for dosing pumps?
Yes, send the pump make and model and we will quote seals, diaphragms where available, and other spares.
Do you supply gasket cutting to size?
Yes, see custom gasket manufacturing. Capability is confirmed when you enquire.
Can you identify a failed seal from a photo?
Often yes, though a measurement or the part itself makes it more certain. Otherwise we route it to technical review.
